Face-in-a-hoop Punch Needle workshop

Workshop tickets are excluded from any online discounts.

Join illustrator and crafter Leigh Hodgkinson for a “face-in-a-hoop” punch needle workshop.

Punch Needle is fun, speedy and easy to pick up. No experience necessary. Punch needle is like traditional rug hooking but with a modern twist.

Leigh will start the workshop by showing a few of her own pieces to give an idea of the crafts versatility and applications (ranging from art wall hangings to zippy pouch bags and cushions).

Then, Leigh will talk you through the basics of how Punch Needle works. In no time at all, you will have a chance to create your own design on paper (or use one of Leighs templates) before stretching the fabric onto the hoop and tracing it through.

You can choose your own colourway from a selection of wools and then start punching! It is a relaxing and instantly rewarding craft and you will soon see your image start to take shape.

At the end of the workshop you will be well on your way to have a completed punch needle “face-in-a-hoop”. After the workshop you have the option of displaying your piece in the hoop, turning into a mini cushion or perhaps a zippy pouch bag.

Artist Leigh Hodgkinson is a children's writer and illustrator who loves making and doing. Irrespective of form or discipline- her stylistic aesthetics remain constant... She is a big fan of bold shapes, graphic composition and has a distinct use of colour.
