We love these beautiful Hand-turned solid wood darning eggs by Socko. Handmade by Liz in her garden shed workshop in Berkshire from reclaimed beech wood. These eggs each have their own unique character and are wonderful objects as well as useful darning supports.
Measuring approximately 8cm in height and 5cm in width, the eggs have been oiled with food standard hemp oil and come with a swatch of yarn and a darning needle.
From the Maker:
In a world that is facing a lot of environmental problems, there seem to be a lot of solutions in the way we did things in the past. When it comes to fashion, the most sustainable thing that you can do is to wear your clothes for longer. We’ve made a robust product and are here to equip you with the skills to mend with pride. We call it Wear & Care.
We promote the idea of mending our socks rather than throwing them away. At Socko we promote visible mending, the idea that your repairing of the sock should be visible that's why every pair comes with a swatch of contrasting colour yarn and a darning needle.
