Redemption Roasters Bulessa Coffee Blend.

Nothing beats a delicious cup of coffee. Apart from a delicious cup of coffee that also supports a great cause.

This delicious espresso coffee has bright citric acidity and berry sweetness, followed by a slightly bitter, dark chocolate or cacao-like aftertaste. There’s a hint of lavender and bergamot in the aroma which will be accentuated if you pull a shorter shot.

Coffee-producing countries often have higher levels of gender inequality due to more traditional cultural role divisions. Typically on smallholder coffee farms, women do the bulk of the work relating to improving quality and yield whilst men work in transporting and selling the produce. However, women are often excluded from decision-making processes and leadership roles and have limited access to financial and educational resources.

Tizita Bizuneh runs the Bulessa washing station in Sidamo, Ethiopia as a project designed to empower women working in coffee throughout the production chain. The station is operated entirely by women, and services 400 mainly female regional smallholder producers. The operation of this washing station is vertically integrated with the export operation, meaning the supply chain is shortened, resulting in the producers of this coffee receiving a bigger share of the final sales price. This is the second year we’ve purchased coffee from this washing station, and we are very excited to see this relationship develop.

With notes of Mandarin, Blueberry and Cacao this makes for a real tasty cup of Joe.

What we love: Prisoners are 50% more likely to re-offend if they leave prison without skills and a job. Redemption Roasters mission is to prevent this by roasting these delicious coffee beens at Aylesbury Prison. Young offenders are trained in roasting, brewing and barista skills, which ultimately creates more employment opportunities when they leave prison.

Directions: Equally delicious as an espresso or with milk.
